This launch session presents the Protocols Complementary to A Second United Nations Charter, a set of practical proposals designed to translate the principles of Charter reform into concrete pathways for renewing and strengthening the institutions of international cooperation. Against the backdrop of escalating conflicts, nuclear risks, planetary boundaries, growing inequality, financial constraints and rapid technological change, the Protocols address key institutional reforms in UN financing, civil society and stakeholder participation, and the composition of a UN Parliamentary Assembly, complemented by a Roadmap on collective security and disarmament.

In the discussions captured in these videos, distinguished experts and practitioners examine these proposals from different perspectives—probing their rationale, feasibility and potential contribution to a more effective system of global governance. Their thoughtful interventions offer an illuminating exploration of both the possibilities and the difficulties of institutional reform at a particularly consequential moment for international cooperation.
