    Guadalupe de la Mata

Guadalupe de la Mata is a governance and development finance expert with nearly three decades of experience at the intersection of multilateral institutions, public-private collaboration, and social innovation.
She has held senior positions in multilateral institutions for over 20 years, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the European Investment Fund (EIF), where she structured and led blended finance initiatives contributing to the mobilization of billions of euros across more than 35 countries. A core focus of her career has been advancing sustainable and inclusive economic growth — supporting job creation, access to finance for underserved populations, women’s economic empowerment, and SME development, particularly in emerging and frontier markets. At the EIF, she was also actively involved in promoting innovation through venture capital and financing instruments supporting startups and high-growth companies.

Her governance experience includes over 25 board and advisory roles across listed and non-listed companies, financial institutions, impact and innovation funds, and non-profit organizations. She currently serves on the board of Redeia (IBEX 35), where she chairs the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and served on the board of Hispasat until December 2025.
She is President of Ethosfera, an action tank focused on ethical decision-making, and founder of AIRIS Governance, an initiative exploring governance in complex and evolving environments.

She holds a Corporate Director Certificate from Harvard Business School and is a member of leading governance networks, including WomenExecs on Boards (Harvard), the European Corporate Governance Institute, and Spain’s Instituto de Consejeros-Administradores.

Beyond her governance roles, she is an active business angel in impact and innovation funds and has been teaching for over 20 years at different business schools, including IE Business School, with a focus on negotiation and decision-making. She has also been actively engaged in social innovation, as founder of the Innovation for Social Change platform, and through her involvement in initiatives such as the Venture Board of Ashoka and as a jury member in social innovation competitions.

Her work focuses on strengthening institutional decision-making and aligning governance practices with long-term value creation, with a growing interest in the implications of artificial intelligence for governance and strategic decision-making.
