      Angelica Cibrian Jaramillo is an evolutionary biologist focused on addressing the biodiversity crisis. Her research investigates patterns of genomic variation in plants and microbes, with a focus on the evolutionary processes behind their origins and history. As the Group Leader of Tropical Botany at Naturalis, she works on integrating knowledge of plants and human interactions to help 'bend the curve' of biodiversity loss. She also promotes integrative taxonomy, combining genomics, AI, and chemistry to reinvigorate research, fieldwork, and botanical collections in search of nature-based solutions.
