Joachim Monkelbaan

Joachim Monkelbaan has been the Climate Trade Lead at the World Economic Forum since 2021. Additionally, he serves as Adjunct Professor at the International University in Geneva, where he teaches a course in ‘Global Environmental Politics’.

Previously, Joachim worked on implementing the Green Economy and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement) through networking, research, capacity building, strategic advice, and building multi-actor partnerships. Additionally, he has worked for a variety of organisations, including the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, International Union for the Conservation of Nature, and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Joachim holds a PhD from the Institute for Environmental Sciences from the University of Geneva, as well as Masters in European Law and Languages, and International Law and Economics.
