Jimena is the Head of the Peace and Sustainable Development Program at the International Peace Institute (IPI). A diplomat with 15 years of experience that negotiated the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and multiple resolutions in the Security Council. She has over 15 years of experience in multilateral organizations and the policy world and has written two renowned books on international negotiations. She regularly offers advise on the role of the private sector in the 2030 Agenda. She grew up in Guatemala and works closely with youth on peace and climate to support the world transition towards a more sustainable path. She also serves as expert for the Climate Governance Commission and is conducting a mapping project on leading states and initiatives on climate governance.
