      Sharan Burrow is a global advocate for human and labour rights, climate action and Just Transition. She is the Former General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation 2010-2022. Previously she was President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) from 2000 – 2010. 

      Sharan is well known for her international advocacy on labour standards, corporate responsibility, climate action with just transition, investment in infrastructure and the green economy, investment in the care economy, women, equality and diversity, global migration and employment.  

      She has represented workers and civil society groups in global policy discussions in United Nations bodies, on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation as well as at the tables of the G7, G20, World Bank and International Monetary Fund.  

      Sharan is deputy chair of the B Team, a commissioner on the Global Commission on Business and Sustainable Development and a former co-chair of the New Climate Economy, a member of the B4IG Executive, a board member of the European Climate foundation and a Commissioner for the Global Commission on Universal Health Coverage. She has twice been a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
